We recently participated in an ESRC event - ‘The revolution will be bio’ - taking a variety of exhibits demonstrating our inter-disciplinarity. Our roadshow had several ‘stars’ - a fluorescent anenome found on a local beach by members of the Centre for Marine Biodiversity and Biotechnology proved useful to explain to the old and young alike where fluorescent proteins come from; a fluorescence microscope provided generously by Leica Microsystems was extremely popular as ever - and a hands-on custom-built exhibit to explain novel 3-dimensional microscopy systems was very well received.
