Outreach:
We are actively involved with public outreach activities: the Rickman group participate in annual schools outreach, extracting DNA from strawberries using household chemicals (sponsored by the Royal Society of Edinburgh). Members of the Duncan group regularly visit local schools, recently arriving with a lorry-load of Leica fluorescence microscopes to show kids the amazing things that can be seen inside cells!
We also ran a large exhibition at the ESRC ‘The revolution will be bio’ roadshow in November 2012. You can see more here.
Our images were recently displayed in the Wellcome Trust Gallery in Euston, as part of their ‘Truth and Beauty’ exhibition, showcasing art and science together. These images were also used to decorate the Wellcome Trust building on Euston Road, London.
We publish in high impact general interest journals, collaborate widely with a range of international researchers across disciplines and participate enthusiastically in public engagement activities.
